Our family has been established as major player in the exportation of cocoa business in Ecuador for the past 40 years. We have 3 generations of the Martinetti family engaged in this business. My father founded “La Casa del Cacao” in Quevedo, Los Rios, being one of the leaders and most recognised cocoa merchants in the area.

In the mid-1990 I started my own cocoa export business selling cocoa in bulk quantities to United States and Europe. At the end of the 1990’s our business model had to adapt to the changing markets of the cocoa trade, from bulk selling to niche markets. The popularity of the speciality chocolate was growing and therefore the demand for cocoa beans with certification of origin and fine flavour.

In 2007 we embarked on a program to develop Cocoamar-ket undertaking the exclusive export of special cocoa beans with organic certification. The mission was to offer the best quality of our world-renowned “Arriba” fine aroma cocoa. Later I obtained the Rainforest and UTZ certifications to fulfil one of my main objectives when starting this project, to assure a fair treatment to the farmer and to guarantee the best quality of cocoa by enabling a traceable chain from customer to farmer.

Cocoaamar-ket is the pioneer in the export of certified speciality cocoa beans from Ecuador, and we continue to offer the best quality of beans that Ecuador has to offer to customers that understand and covet the highest quality and fine flavour cocoa. We are proud to have as our customers renowned chocolatiers such as Pierre Marcolini (BEL), Coppeneur (ALE), Ferrero (ITA), among others.

Los Ríos province has a long cocoa tradition and history, as the "Gran Cacao", which were families with large haciendas dedicated to the cultivation and commercialization of cocoa, were settled in that province, even before the constitution of the Republic.

Los Ríos presents the ideal conditions for the cultivation of cocoa. In Los Rios we can find the world-renowned cacao "Arriba", a high quality cocoa with fine aroma.

The cocoa of Los Ríos has a strong floral profile characteristic of the area; it also has notes of roses, jasmine, hierbaluisa, citrus and has an intense aroma.
